Finally bought one
Hey guys, all I can say is, that I'm REALLY happy that I stumbled across this website online, since this is where I found my first thirdgen that I bought on Saturday. It's a 1991 Trans Am Convertible. I got it from one of the members on here and I got it for a great price. $2800. It's one of those rare 1 of 555 trans am 'verts made that year. I'm just really really really happy! I posted up a youtube vid of it, check it out:

It needs a little work (engine tune-up, drivers window motor, some surface rust, and new paint), but you can't beat it for the price I got it for.
Again, this is a great resource, and I will be visiting often. Thanks for all the help you guys have given me so far.

Glad to have another T/A convertible brother on the forum! I just like you, found this site when I bought my first '91 Trans Am convertible, and I agree, this site is invaluable when you need parts or information about your new find. And the people are great - I have yet to have contact with anyone on this forum who is not helpful and kind. Good luck with your new baby!

very nice job, as a 91 vert owner myself (Z28, not TA), you done good. If I didn't have my vert, I would have been interested in it if I had found it first.
also read your other post, screw them guys, some of these cars are worth good money, but the majority just isn't. You, like me, got just what you wanted at a price many said was un-obtainable.
are you single? if so, don't expect to be for long when you start taking that thing out to school and such!

oh even better! i remember back in high school, i had an 88 Camaro with a 305 TPI and flowmaster muffler...i rolled up one day to drop my friend off where the buses pulled up and there was always a big crowd there....everyone just stared! a girl later told me my car was a "car-gasm" lol. i got a lot of attention with that car. don't screw up your senior year! you're getting to do what i wish i could do; relive mye senior year with my 91 vert!

Wow. Nice buy!
That color was always my favorite on the verts ... until I bought my red one!
Nice interior. Absolutely awesome that it has a factory CD player.
Paint, a little bit of wrenching under the hood and a new top, and you'll have yourself a very nice, rare, collectible. Have fun with it as a daily driver, but my advice is to keep it. Don't trade it in or sell it whenever you get a new daily.
While I'm dishing out advice (take it or leave it), I would suggest getting all the mechanical things worked out before you ever think of painting it. It would be a shame to scratch that new paint while working under the hood. Also, do the top last. You'll have it down most of the time anyway.
Have fun and be safe!

Re: Finally bought one
Thanks again guys! Unfortunately my bird cannot fly right now as it has run into a mechanical snafu... it ran great as I was taking it for a spin around my block until it died and left me stranded uphill 100 feet from my house. UGH. It's been giving problems ever since. I replaced the ignition coil (since it would hardly start and die when you hit the gas). That helped it a little, but it still dies when you rev it past 2000 and hold it. I'm REALLY hoping it's not a bad fuel pump. She'll be visiting the mechanic sometime next week most likely.
And gcgarner, this isn't my daily runner. This one's for nice weather only and NO winter driving except for emergencies. My daily runner is a 1994 GMC s15 Jimmy which I LOVE as well (check out my youtube vids).
And when my friend found out about my mechanical problems (with the t/a), he was nagging me as to why I didn't buy a '92 Honda CRX. Needless to say, I laughed... very hard.
And the suspension has a coat of rust on it. During the winter I think I might partially disassemble it and sand it off and put a coat of either rattle can or brush paint black Rustoleum. Is that a good/bad idea? Oh and I'll probably replace the tie rods and shocks since they're just not too pretty. Driveable, but ugly. lol
