I am in the process now of replacing my complete dash harness in my 1992 RS convertible as the previous owner had destroyed the original by cutting and splicing the harness in so many places that I can't recognize which wire goes where. I recently bought a complete dash and uncut harness from a 91 camaro online recently but don't know if it came off a convertible or hardtop. When I compared the harnesses this morning it looks like the factory harness has more wires on it or someone has added some at one time or another.
My question is : Is there any major difference in the dash harnesses from a convertible verses the harness from a hardtop? Will they interchange?
My second question is : Does anybody make a large color coded wiring diagram that would be easier to read and understand rather than the one shown in the factory shop manuals?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as the car has been sitting for almost 2 years now and if it doesn't get repaired soon it may sadly have to be scrapped and I don't want to see a good car get done that way just because of a wiring problem.

Hard to tell if it gonna be different. You dont metion if the 91 was a RS also or a Z28, Did it have power windows,etc..

 

it should be the same if it came out of an identically-optioned car. The only difference I know of between a vert and a coupe is some modified wiring for the rear hatch release, ASC used the factory power hatch release wiring and modified it to release the tonneau cover instead of the trunk lid.
