88 convertible rear spoiler

Mine is missing, the center anyways. The odd part is I have the sides that run along the quarters. They just happen to stop about 6"-8" from the end of the trunk. Was there two different spoilers for convertibles? Unless mine is a 5 piece, then the spoiler must fill in that bare area on the rear of quarters.
:very confused:

Re: 88 convertible rear spoiler

Pics would help a ton..... But from your description, someone may have cut off the rear quarter trim pieces. They should run all the way to the edge of the quarter where they meet with the center trunk portion of the spoiler.

In 1988, two rear spoiler designs were used on the Sport Coupe. One is the three piece ducktail which was also used on the IROC-Z. The second is a "mini-wing" which resembles the '91-'92 Z28's rear spoiler. However, Camaro convertibles (all years) only came with the three piece. Obviously, the end pieces were NOT the same as the coupe.

Re: 88 convertible rear spoiler

..looks like a 91-92 high rise spoiler will fit perfectly. Wonder how it would look..

I agree look at the holes in the trunk. The standard holes (4) run along the edge.

Something like this but the holes in your trunk are farther apart.

Re: 88 convertible rear spoiler

Yeah, I know about the horrible body work. Not a big deal for me.

..since my holes are not in the same spot(as a high rise), then I wonder what spoiler was used? Maybe from a SC hard top? ..anyone have a pic?

Th latch plate, does that look the same as 89-92 ASC cars?

Re: 88 convertible rear spoiler

That car had a firebird low rise spoiler on it. You can tell by how far apart the holes are and see the oval impression on the paint. That and the holes for the high rise are closer together than that.
