Does this look like a rig job?

These are the upper seatbelt trim on the rear quarter panels of my 1987 Iroc Convertible. As you can see there are screws in it that dont appear to secure anything to the panel itself. I dont see any broken pieces on the enclosure cap but it just doesnt look right. I am hoping someone can send me a pic of their stock 87 rear upper seatbelt trim.

Re: Does this look like a rig job?

yea that looks like ghetto rig work, go to an RV supply store, they sell screw caps, its a 2 part system, remove screw, slide bottom part of screw cap on screw, install screw, then snap cap on the bottom part......it would look alot better and look more stock.......if that is not ghetto work i would still go but the screw caps..............btw, they make them in any color you can think of

Re: Does this look like a rig job?

This looks like a previous owner tried to make pieces to replace ones that broke but did not care about the looks of his repair. They are available for $75 at a few places but I agree with 89RS_82Z, the hardware is what is really amking it look bad. Replace the hardware and it will look much better. If you pop for the new plastic, you should still replace the hardware.

Re: Does this look like a rig job?

It is not a rig job. It is simply a piece that's broken / missing sections. The yellow line I drew is where one missing section is. The screw that appears to do nothing originally held the missing "wing", similar to its mirror image (existing on the left). There's also a piece that's broken off that you cannot see. This one is difficult to explain. Tomorrow, I'm planning on checking out my convertible that's in storage. I'll remove my same piece and I'll take some pics of it to post here. I know one of two of mine is broken (the part I cannot explain) but I believe the other is intact....

Re: Does this look like a rig job?

I bought this car a couple of years ago and dont drive it much. I keep it in storage the majority of the time and every time I take it out I see more and more I dont like. When I bought the car I was so excited I guess I was blind to most of the flaws. I appreciate the help
