Nope just give it to me. Seriously though if it cost that to fix it up there won't be much left for profit. Mike

If you make her look "Stunning" then yes, I think you can definetly make money on it!
Get a nice paint job..clean up the engine bay..lower it..and you will be set.
These things are just going up, up in value! In fact, I was offered $20k for my car last week..but I respectfully declined it.

If you think it will cost approx 5k to make it nice, that is also about the average value of these cars(unless it has rare options). I doubt you will make enough money for your labor invested. If your time is worth "nothing" but enjoyment and you want to actually have a car of this nature and drive it for a bit. Go for it.

Hows that? Having the car the factory color makes it most valuable. Painting it another color may make it more desireable. Personally, I wanted a white one, but I got red

If you want to make money off the car, the best thing you can do is spend one day cleaning it up really well and then advertise it. You will never make more money on a car by putting money into it just to sell it. If you want it for yourself, paint it whatever color you want and enjoy it!

I think it depends on how soon you are wanting a turn-around on your investment. If you drop 5k into that car for the items needed, it would be worth about 5k when you're done ... right now. If you put 5k into it now and hang on to it for a few years ... no telling what it might be worth. Maybe only 5k still ... maybe 20k ... only time will tell.
But if you want quick profit, sell it as-is and make a few hundred bucks.

red or black look best on 3d gen convertibles, and they
are the most desirable colors, unlike white.
look at bids on ebay for a while and u will understand what im talking about.

Like I said, changing the color may make it more desirable. But IT IS WORTH MORE the orginal color.
And trust me, I watched cars go on ebay for 5 months while looking for mine. I saw little change in price according to color, I saw more in condition, location, options.

The Floor Pans are the worst problem no rust on the body panels but the floor pans esspecially the driver side are rotted. Other than that the car needs a paint job, Dash, Driver side seat, and trans is slipping. Luckily the top is brand new.

fix it up and keep it. If you picked it up for a few hudred. You could easily make a few bucks by cleaning it up and unloading it now. But thats not gonna get you much more.
Take your time and fix it up as you have the $$$ to do so.

Re: 1988 Iroc Vert. Is it worth fixing up for a profit
i bought my 91 rs vert for 1500. i replaced the dashboard with a brand new looking dah from the junkyard for 50 bucks. Also replaced the drivers seat foam and material off a passenger sea that was mint, that cost 50 bucks too. And i`m repainting the entire car myself and also polishing the wheels. Go to all the junkyards around and get some prices on some parts you need. It`s worth the buy!

Re: 1988 Iroc Vert. Is it worth fixing up for a profit
hey jer, ill give him $200 over!
Anyways, we have had our 88 Iroc vert off the road for almost 4 years now and we started the repaint process last year and right now it isnt even primered. Maybe we will get to a engine swap and the interior will def. need to be replaced. The only thing is is that we cant enjoy it.
Since you got it so cheap I'd restore it to your ability and enjoy. There arent many verts out there so consider yourself lucky for finding one.

Alright, $250 over. but this is getting rediculious.
Ive had my car since 04 and its still in need of some work, i havent had it on the road yet either, just a run around the block here and there, I did replace my interior and top. just needs the top reglued and the paint done, then a complete tune up. then she'll look amazing once again.
