Ready For The 4th Of July Car Show

I just waxed the Camaro in preparation for a car show on the 4th of July. This will be my first entry in a car show.

I thought I'd post a photo of it all polished up.

I just polished mine too. It will be in our local 4th of July parade. I offered it for the use by the queen and her court, since the 63 Caddy 'vert they hoped to use was sold out from under them by a local used car dealer. I won't be able to drive her, since I'll be driving my truck at the tail end of the parade with fellow Kiwannians on board. Of course that may change. If I feel the guy they got to drive mine can't drive a stick well enough I'll beg off my co-duties of kicking off the entries early and drive the 'vert myself. Either way the car will be in the parade which is televised locally on our cable access channel. My last parade was over 10 years ago in the lil mountain community where my parents live. It was also a 4th of July parade.

How'd your car do in the show?

The car show was a lot of fun. I had the only third gen in the show. In fact I don't remember seeing another third gen all day. I entered the car in the sports car division and got a lot of votes from the musclecar guys but lost out to a mint condition 1951 Thunderbird convertible and a mint condition 1994 Lamboroghini Diablo. I didn't really expect to win anyway because the car isn't even finished yet.

It was still fun and I'm already thinking of entering another show in August.

51 T-Bird? Surely you mean 55, 56 or 57.

Your car already looks bad-a-s-s ... what do you have in store for it?

I'm not very familiar with old T-Birds but it was a first generation T-Bird. I thought the dash plaque said it was a '51 but I guess it was a 55, 56, or 57.

As far as future plans for The Interceptor, I'd like to swap out the 305 for either a 350 HO or a 383 of some sort. I'd also like to swap the auto for a built 5 speed manual. Those are some big dollar projects and will have to wait a while.

I'd also like a set of 17 x 9.5" Chrome C6 Corvette replica wheels as well as a set of Eibach lowering springs. An Edelbrock three point STB would also help improve the handling. The STB may be next on my list.

Finally I'd like to give it a 2" cowl induction hood. I've seen one that is a replica of the '69 Z/28 hood that I think would look great. When the hood is done I'll have the rest of the car repainted and a couple of little door dents repaired. The body work is the last thing I'd do.

Hers's what it looks like under the hood:

Looks nice. I'd love to drop a 383 with a 5 spd. in a Camaro.

Might have stated 57 sometimes the 1 looks like a 7 at a glance...
