Anybody else's vert like this
So after many many hours of trying to reverse what the previous bonehead owners did to this thing i realized somthing.... In the trunk section i have black carpet and black plastics... in the front i HAD grey everything (before my interrior color swap) Was this a standard practice to have different colors in the back than in the front.....

I stand to be corrected on the exact year but the early year's (1987 to 88?) had color matching carpeting and plastic panels in the trunk. All other year's, everything was black in the trunk.

This comes up about once a year and the only thing that gets settled is there really is no set pattern. ASC probably had all matching in 87/88 but might have ran into delays waiting on parts. So maybe in 89-90? they stocked a lot of black but still color matched when they could.
I know the 91-92's (mostly 92) switched to the cheap *** 'carpet pockets' which required black. I'd love to see a color matched 'carpet pocket' if it was available.
On a side note, I'm looking for some black side platic pieces if anyone sees any!

Dave from thirdgenusa just posted in the for sale section last night that he had the 2 side rear pieces in black.

ChevyKen,
Is your 86 an ASC conversion car? It looks like it from what I can see.

I’ve not heard of Choo Choo Customs before. Where are they located? Are they still in business?
The door trim pieces on your car, that extend forward from the rear spoiler are unique (I thought until now..) to the 87 vert.
Does your dash have a Map Pocket located on the passenger side as well?

mnorton,
CCC is mostly known for the ElCamino SS conversions of the 80's. They also had three rather unknown Camaro Coupe "conversion packages" called SX, SS and TeamCamaro. These weren't much but "badge & vinyl" packages though
In later years it is a name mostly known for Van&Truck conversions. The name still does exist, but it was bought up by a company called L.A.West a few years ago - so it is not the same company anymore.
When it comes to thirdgen convertible conversions - I have only come across 1 or 2 others during the 8 or so years I've owned the car.
Sorry for drifting way off topic folks! mnorton, feel free to post a new topic or hit me on email should you have additional questions regarding my car or CCC.

In 92 they switched to the cheaper molded pieces vice the plastic for at least one reason I remember reading about. GM claimed an increase in trunk room for the 92 model year. I also bet it saved some money.
