92 firebird pass side ground effect removal

I am replacing pass fender on the bird and need to remove side gound effect(the one under the door). I have removed all the screws but cannot get it off. There is one stud at the rear of the ground effect where it attaches into the rear quarter, it is waaaay down at the base of the body and I cannot figure out how to get to it to remove it. I can see the stud and nut with the top down, but cannot see any way to get to the nut...anybody have a bright idea???

Thanks,
Jim

I had to take a 2" hole saw, lined it up real carefully looking at the nut, and drilled through the 3 layers of metal. After that a socket and extension is all you need.

Of course you should be able to twist it a bit and get the fender off without removing the ground effect.

Thanks , I had thought about drilling to gain access, but thought there must be an easier way! Getting the fender off is not the problem, I need to get the new one on and pop rivet the lower bracket to the fender before I take it for paint. And that lower ground effect is in the way for drilling and pop riveting! hey, thanks for the reply, I do appreciate it!

Maybe its different on a vert, but once you take off the plastic trim near the seat you should be able to get to it from there. You should not have to drill a hole.

Yeah, way different on a vert. ASC adds all their bracing in that area, it goes from the floor all the way up to the top of the door.

Well that sucks then. You should be able to get the fender off without taking the whole rocker gfx off.Like the Gm design wasnt bad enough ASC had to make it worse
