Cutting convertible fenders
I've bought an 89 convertible with out front fenders and have fenders off a regular Z and was going to put them on but they are quite different. Isee that they need to be cut to fit . Has anyone ever done it and able to shed a little light on it for me and also heard there are some brackets that attach to them. Any info or a picture sure would help. Thanks.

Hmmmmmm?
I am pretty sure that the fenders are a direct bolt on. Should be no difference between, hard top, t-top, or convertible front fenders in how they fit. Ground effects may make a difference or front bumper may be a little different.
I guess I would need a visual to see what it is that you are talking about.

They definatly have to be cut, the strengthing rail was added to increse stiffness in our weak unibody construction, thus interfering in the fenders, im not sure how much has to be cut though, i need to know because i also have to do this....on both sides.......

Finally Ive found someone that knows what Im talking about. Iwould think that most convertible owners know that there is a difference. Everybody keeps telling me that all the fenders are the same.Because of the box frame they are different. Still need help in knowing just how much to trim. Thanks

The fenders ARE the exact same fenders,ASC just modified the bottoms of the fenders so that the front box end of the new support brackets under the rockers could fit up nice-n-tite.
Just set the top of the fender in place and looooosly place 2 bolts in so that you can pull the bottom of the fender out. Let it lay down where it should be and mark where your cuts need to be made and how deep to make them. When you are done, make a template and load it up on this thread so I don't have to do all that work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
