Question about convertible stuff
Just a quick question. i recently picked up a 91 camaro convertible,a nd i'm going to throw my 430 horse 355 from my hardtop 91 into it, and was just wondering if i'm gonna have problems without a rollcage like with a t top car. thanks!

Roll bars aren't really required unless you are racing. There is a nice supercharged Camaro vert on here, you might want to have a look at that as he says, around 400HP modified. As any F car droptop, reinforcements are always a good consideration, but a rollbar isn't a requirement for street use

well i was planning on a custom rollcage with more tubular reinforcements made to the car, along with spohn sfcs and an edelbrock stb, but i wanted to put the engine in my car and drive it before i did this because i have the motor, but no money to do everything else except the stb and sfcs. i don't think i'm going to take the risk because i've always wanted a vert, it'sl ike my dream car, and i don't want to mess it up. who knows i might get the itch, but my slicks can stay off the car for one summer hopefully.

Please keep up posted, I also just picked up a 91 iroc-z vert. I'm just having it repainted and the interior redone, but I am very interested in pushing the performance in the not-to-distant future. You should install a three point engine strut brace.

that's awesome, i just got mine from roseville california. it should be here in a few days(shipped it to wisconsin) and yeah i believe it's a z28 not iroc because they did discontinue the iroc package and went to the z package in 91. good luck with your project!

OK, it's a Z-28..... I'm learning all the time. I could have sworn it said IROC-Z on it somewhere, but it has been in the shop for a month or so now and I just don't remember.
OK, while I've got you, every car I see seems to have the body side mouldings, does anyone take them off? I have decided to remove mine to get a sleeker look, not an irreversible move as they are put on with adhesive.

when my car goes to get painted i am doing the same thing. i hate the look of the side moldings also. you might have less fade for the paint though.

I mention shaving in the solenoid thread, as that can often include traditional doorhandle removal as well. I own a Firebird and the beltline trim is painted in contrast, a touch I wholly appreciate.
Take a look at this Deville, an 87 or 88 model year, downsized, but custom look really brings out a new side not seen:

I also want to add that in Hot Rod magazine, check out the list of mods done on Nick Fusco's 350 Formula he bought new in 1989, it mentions at what point he went to a roll cage as required and what mods came before:
August 2002 back-issue
