Was black the standard trunk area carpeting, Mine has black and several pics' i've seen also show black? All my interior is black and i want to go with gray, currently trying to find all interior parts for the switch. Found gray trunk side panels on e-bay so far, I still need the back seat area side panels .

I have a part's car with gray interior so i will have the carpet and shifter console, door panels,seats & some other misc .Can i just dye the carpet for my tonneau area to gray???

the carpet in the trunk area of my 87 vert is the same color as the interior carpet ,which in my case is red, i tried some of that carpet dye,its ok but not the best in my opinion, i go to ebay all the time,and it seems like as far as interior pieces ,they seem to have more grey than any other color, give it some time and you should find anything you need there.

 

yeah my wife's 88 vert has deluxe grey interior, and it has grey carpet in the trunk. So there should be grey pieces / carpet out there!

 

My vert's got black carpet and paneling in the trunk. What year is yours?

I believe they made a switch to everything being black in 90 or 91 or so. My Tan interior has black from the rear seat back.

Grey passenger area, black carpet in the top storage area and grey trunk carpet/pieces in my '89 IROC vert.

 

Flame Red passenger area, flame red on rear seat backs, black carpet in the top storage area and black trunk carpet/pieces in my '92 RS vert.

Mine had one blue seat no front carpet no back seat... black trunk carpet no trim 1991 z28 vert

 

I got to see this up-close when replacing the carpet in my '92 Z28 droptop a few weeks back. Gray carpet, ending behind the passenger seat wells ... Black carpet going into the cargo/trunk area. Hadn't really thought of it until I saw this thread.

My 89 Iroc vert has carmine red carpet up front and black in the trunk along with black panels in the trunk.However an 89 Iroc junkyard vert I parted not too long ago had grey carpet up front and back along with grey trunk panels.Kinda makes you wonder????

 

My 91 Z28 has grey up front, and black in the truck too.

 

Could it be that the "custom cloth" interior option packages got color-keyd cargo areas? My 90 has red int. and a red cargo area and has a $327 "custom cloth" option package on the window sticker and my 85 coupe was the same. I'd hope for that much (20 yrs ago) you got something more than differnt seat covers.

 

My 88 Formula vert has black carpet in the trunk area.

 

My 89 formula 350 vert has gray front and rear carpets along with the modified hard plastic side panels.

My 92 JY T/A vert has gray front and black rear w the soft molded black carpet side panels

 

Good thought on the custom cloth RPO ... My '92 has that, and it's still black cargo/trunk with dove gray passenger area carpet. I didn't realize my original carpet was in such bad shape until I pulled it out and replaced it with new threads from ACC. So much better now!
