There are too many GOOD sellers here on TGO to feel compelled to take a chance, IMO.

I don't moderate any classified boards accept Cars For Sale, but I do think we have a good sticky up there that I hope people read and use for the sake of themselves and others.

Unfortunately even when staff take the time to give warnings in advice via a sticky, they go unread and unheeded.

Good luck to those that have lost money.

I just want to defend myself a little here...
I thought I did do some research before I gave this guy money. He didn't have any feedback but he did have a lot of stuff for sale and several post. Been a member since 07 I believe. I didn't see anything negitive until I started this thread. I may have over looked something. I am new to this site myself. Matter of fact this was my first purchase from someone on this site. Next time maybe I should just make a thread asking if "so and so" is a good seller. This is a great site with tons of info.
I would like to thank everyone for all the input. Now to look for another dash pad!

No offense, but I wasn't directing what I said to just you. It's good for every single person who uses ANY classified system to do what JT and I suggested. Hopefully it will save someone some money.

Wooow I feel for you guys, amazing how people can just lie and steal and not lose a minute of sleep about it. Sooner or later he will screw the wrong person and will pay for it... or atleast I hope so.

Re: Possible bad seller

Do you people realize what paypal will and can do to this guy? All of your info has to be verified (bank account, credit card, address, etc.) to even open an account with them. The company is not in the business of losing money and will flag his bank account in order to get it back. Also paypal is owned by ebay and he has burned both bridges by scamming people.

Congrats on getting the refund and be more cautious before sending people money.

Re: Possible bad seller

Are you sure about Paypal being "safe?" I think Paypal only offers insurance if the item is bought through an Ebay auction. Now, you can dispute it on your credit card you paid Paypal with. (This is why I always use a credit card on Paypal and don't do the debit from my bank account.) I had to go this route when I paid a guy from Craigslist via Paypal for tail lights that arrived broken since he sent them together in a box without hardly any bubble wrap. Paypal wouldn't assist since I didn't buy it on an Ebay auction. My credit card company reversed the charges after I disputed it with Chase. Maybe the difference whether Paypal covers an item it damaged v. never received???

Re: Possible bad seller

Just an update. I was refunded all the money I had lost. In my opinion if you are in doubt, don't wait to open up a claim with paypal. It can always be resolved if the seller is on the up and up.

Re: Possible bad seller

i know this problem is resolved. But I know alot of people wouldnt like this but what about a registration fee. I'm a member of e30tech.com and you have to pay to join the site and be able to post. I know its not alot but it would discourage people from creating 10 accounts. I've bought many many parts from sellers and have never had a problem on their site. Could just be luck though. I dont know just an idea.
