4 barrels stay open all the time

Hey everyone,
Ok so my buddy told me last night that he thought it sounded like my 4 barrels were opening early. Its the stock quadrajet by the way. I was cleaning my carb tonight and noticed that they never close. What can I do to adjust this? I am not going to buy anything or rebuild anything cause I am putting in a 350 in a few weeks, I just need to know if I am gonna have to deal with it or can I adjust something.

You must mean the air valve to the secondaries is open.If they're just flopping around with no tension at all,i'd say your tension spring is either broke or the set screw came loose(spring is on the left side of the air valve, you can see it if your breather is off and your looking up from the bottom of the carb.)If it's stuck ,maybe one or both of the butterflys for the secondaries are mis-aligned.If they aren't fit perfectly square in the hole ,they'll fetch up on something sometimes. If it actually is your throttle blades staying open, you got problems.Hope this helps .

They never close??? Thats kinda confusing because the way that the the secondaris are set. MTCAMARO was right when he said that they could be floping around and you should follow his advice and if they are open constantly "flipped up" then you have a problem that i have never seen.
Just to be on the safe side if you friend said they sounded like there opining to quickly it could be because of your air filter, open eliment type dont block sound like a snorkle. How does you car run. economy/power wise?

Ok, there is a little tension in the blades but once they open they don't close like they should. I was checking it out and the arm that should bring them back to the close position just doesn't do it.
The car runs ok. Power wise it has some ***** but you know, its an LG4 in need of a tune up, bad. Economy, yeah right my gas mileage is just plain bad.
