edlebrock? why? oh why?
ok here goes yet another question! i was wondering why everyone says a edlebrock holds a tune? because i have a 1405 600edlebrock man. choke and the damn thing wont stay tuned to save my life! i set the floats correctly, tuned the idle mixture screws with both tach and a vac guage! the carb is a new one with about 50 miles on it and its the 3rd damn one ive had why does everyone like edlebrocks? i am begining to hate the hell out of them! mine wont stay tuned and it brand new! it has to be re-tuned everyday according to the damn weather outside! why ? what the hell is wrong with the piece of crap!??? they have all been about this bad they shouldnt need constant everyday tuning! thats just rediculous! and edlebrock claims bolt on out of the box! yeah,,... it'll bolt on and run and thats about it! they wont continue to run! the car runs like crap it got 10,000 miles ont the fresh 356 and the ignition is good proper timing to specs! i mean everything is new! perfect! so why are edlebrocks such crap? why the constant need for tuning everyday? im completely fed up please help!!!1

No specific recommendations but I will say that my limited expereince with the carb was a good one. My father had a boat with twin 350s in it a few years back. THey used the Edlebrock carb and ran beautifully for years with no problems.
If your carb is running differently every day then you've got problems elswhere. Remeber the old rule: "90% of carburetor problems are found in the ignition." Also, vacuum leaks can play havoc with carb tuning.

Burnoutrpm,
I know that I have already offered to help you and I think that you were one of the ones calling me a lier. I am having much trouble understanding why you give carb tuning advice so freely and then readily admit that you can't get your own to work correctly.
Now what is more likely, that the carburetor cannot work right, or that you can't make it work right?
I will offer one more time to help. I have no idea where you are, but if you are close enough to come here, then I would show you how to tune your carb personally.
Troubleshooting every carb problem via internet is not always possible, but I am willing to try that as well if you'd like.
Just say yes or no to wanting my help.

mr. ODB,
I would like your e-mail address for some edelbrock carb ?'s
I had 1405 w/ electric choke kit that left me dead over 4500 rpm, I got a 750 cfm with an electric choke kit and I now have my upper rpm power but I have stumble problems off idle to around 2500 rpm when I apply full throttle, if I ease into it I can nail it around 2500 rpm with no problem
thanks

I feel for you. Yet another pissed off edelbrock carb owner. I gave up on mine after months of headakes and hours of labor. I went back to the qjet and am much happier. I rest my case. I have tried everything you can imagine and mine would not haold a tune for more than a few days. Sorry- I know what you are going through.

I put a 1406 on my 383 and used an exhaust gas analyzer to check the tune. The WOT mix was perfect out of the box, only needed to go 1 step richer on the lean step of the rod. The car starts and runs perfectly in weather from 15 to 85 degrees Farenheit, only making seasonal adjustments to the choke.
