Edelbrock Preformer Carb and stock Inake
Is it possible to use an Edelbrock Preformer Carb with a stock intate manifold in an 86 TA. Will it fit under the hood? The reason i am asking is that my car failed inspection because it does not have an EGR valve on the manifold, or slot for one. (I have an Edelebrock Preformer Manifold) I bought the car out of state, and didn't realize this would cause a problem. I have a friend who just upgraded his 84 manifold and is offering to give me his old stock one. I would like to know if this will fit my carb. Thanks all for your help.

It should work, I did that to mine.
I went to an Edelbrock carb with the stock manifold and then to the Performer RPM manifold.
You will need an adaptor plate if your carb is a square bore, 4 holes the same size. the stock Q-jet carb was a spread bore, front holes were small, and the 2 rear holes were larger. I have my edelbrock square bore to spreadbore adaptor plate still. If you need it, I'll sell it to you cheap, $20.00 shipped. I paid $35.00 for it, only used it for 2 months when I then put on my Performer RPM intake.

Is that all they said? I would think you'd be extremely fortunate to pass with an EGR manifold but no CC carb/distibutor. But, stranger things have happened.
Although the stock intake isn't all that bad if no other mods have been made, it still seems like a lot of work for reduced performance. A better route to go would be to get an EGR-type Performer or Weiand Action+, then sell your current intake. I'd recommend the Action+ if you don't have a preference.
