Carb ID ? 49 state mono-jet vs 49 state Q-jet

OK. I bought a CCC quadrajet as a back up for parts before modification in case I really messed something up. I haven't compared the 2 carbs side by side but they look similar in a gross comparision. The carb ID is 17086057 meaning it is out of an Olds and is a monojet. How does this compare to the 85 CCC from my Z28?

I don't have a source at my fingertips to look up the part number, but something doesn't sound right. "Monojet" refers to a single barrel carb, and was used on straight 4 and 6 cyl engines. GM had what they called a "dualjet" that was like the front end of a q-jet. There were two versions, a full-body like a q-jet with blanked-off secondaries, and a smaller-base version that really was just the front part of a q-jet (also made CC and mechanical versions of the latter that I know). If what you have looks grossly like the q-jet on your car, and it is a dual jet, then it is the former variety (and I know Olds used them in the 70's).

Does this parts carb have all the same electrical connections as your CC carb? If so, then you may have some compatible parts. If not, then the choke thermostat is about the only thing that might work (if it is electric, that is, which it may not be).

Thanks for the reply. This carb has four barrels and the TPS and the other electronic pigtail. The hangers and secondary rods are the same as my Z28 (B and CK respectively). They look the same. Ledfoot on the net webpage lists the 17086057 decoded as 86 for year 86 and following 0 as a monojet. That's my point it looks like a 4 barrel and it looks exactly like my Z28 carb stamped 17085204 with the 2 meaning 4 barrel Q jet. Two sources say:
Carb ID
0 = 49 state mono-jet
1 = 49 state 2bbl
2 = 49 state Q-jet
3 = California mono-jet
4 = California 2bbl
5 = California and high altitude Q-jet
Anybody with an explanation?

I've never seen them decoded that way...

1708=E4ME in teh 80s
5=year ending in 5
204=L69 5-speed (maybe auto too) carb (201=LG4 carb)
Chevy cars have 3-digit codes starting with 2, have had for many years; Chevy trucks IIRC start with 6, other brands with other numbers

All I can tell from 17086057 is that it's an 80s model E4ME (CC QJet) from a year ending in 6, model 057 which isn't a Chevy. It probably came from an Olds 307 or something like that.

Thanks for the info. I like your decoding better. I thought it was a CCC Qjet and I got some misinformation or I got confused. Thanks again
