Holley 4175 Float adjustment
Reading the Holley Tuning sticky it mentions "if your holley has sight plugs..." but not if it doesn't. I've got the 4175 with no sight plugs and internal adjustment to the floats. Everything is running well at the moment and with some adjustments I've gone from less than 12 mpg hwy to over 19. But I'm interested in playing with float levels to possibly lean it out a bit more.
Is there a distance from the toe of the float I should be looking to achieve? Or a range to play with?
Thanks for your help.

It's in the manual for the specific carb you have; but generally, it should be close to where, when you turn the fuel bowl upside down, the top of the float is parallel to the top of the fuel bowl.
Don't try to "lean it out" that way. Set it right, then leave it alone and "lean it out" with the metering parts.
Also be aware, as "lean" as you can get it, isn't necessarily the best gas mileage... if your mixture is 5% too lean, but you have to use 10% more mixture to get the power you need to move the car around, you'll use 5% more fuel than if the mixture was correct. Get it RIGHT, NOT "as lean as possible".
Glad that sticky is working out for you... sure would be nice if more people followed it

I'm currently not seeing any extra fuel spilling into the carb at idle even when rocking the car, but wanted to try to lean it out just a tick more to see what it does. Just wish I didn't have to take the dang bowl off to do it on this one.
thanks again.
