variable venturi on an '82 Ford
1st, I use "brianradomski" because I easily remember it PLEASE DO refer to me as Bri or "B" AND 2nd: AHH I finally figured out how to type out a NEW post here, I JUST joined and with a heavy sad heart O.K. HERE WE GO: WE of the family really love the 1982 Ford country squire (wagon of course) I wound up with 5, 8(?) yrs ago. Its truly been, I really will say a perfectly reliable dependable COMFORTABLE riding car! that was the easy part.....its time for carbuerator trouble and my fault to be concise. What annoys me is that a carbuerator specialist has been "bemoaning", he and his crew have been rather dramatic about the difficulty of the FORD VARIABLE VENTURI carbuerator which this car has. They moan about how much more expensive this carbuertor will be to work on. They claim ITS JUNK!. Considering how joyously this car has run how bad could this caruerator be please??? I have never ever worked on a carbuertor, I just cant afford the near 300.00 this shop wants. how difficult are these carbs??? Difficult is in the eyes of the observer but.....THANK YOU READERS!!!

Re: variable venturi on an '82 Ford
My own reply to my own thread: many lookers but no replies to try again: IS the varible venturi Ford carbuerator a no good caruertor?? IS the carbuerator VERY difficult to work on thus very expensive? The sudden dfficulty in starting points to .......the carbuerator, perhaps the internal choke "sticks" and floods the engine. tapping the carb. LIGHTLY "hammering" the carbuerator helps starting. ANY BETTER?

could try spraying some carb cleaner down the venturis-carb might be just gummed up.don't let anyone fool with this carburator unless they know what they are doing.Never had one of these carbs myself,(might be a few ford guys here that may know more about this carburator)As this is a chevy forum, you'll get a better response if you post this questoin on a ford forum

I remember those carbs, overly complicated. You will need someone who knows what he's doing to get it right. Find a Ford forum where they can give you tips, here's a couple of sites.
