What carb works with the Factory Ram Air

What carb works with the Factory Ram Air
I have an 83 Trans Am with 350/5 speed/3:73 gears plus a factory ram air system. I currently have a junkyard Edelbrock carb on there that needs work so I was going to swap to a new carb. Any recommendations for carbs with the ram air system intact? I have E heads, Edelbrock ***** thumper cam, Edelbrock intake and headers.

Any 4bbl carb all mount the same style air/cleaner/intakes. You should be able to make almost anything work. Though I am not sure are carbs and linkages will clear.
Edelbrock does not make the ***** thumpr style cams.

Oh yeah, I meant Comp cams re the camshaft.
I was thinking Holley 750 double pumper but I didn't want to buy one without knowing for sure that it fits the stock base. I don't want to cut up the original system.

750 will be too big for you unless you have it fitted with annular boosters. The venturi on the 750 require more booster signal than your motor will likely give it causing poor booster response. A 650 will be fine or a 750 with annular boosters. You should have to re-jet them either way

OK, Thanks! I was wondering if 750 was too big. I may swap out the cam as well since power was disappointing but it sure does sound good.

It also will not sit on an edelbrock very well either. The fuel inlet on the edelbrock is up high in the rear right in the way of the stock air cleaner base. I tried about 10 different fittings before I found one that would clear just enough. I run the stock 82 cowl induction air cleaner on an edelbrock 600 manual choke with a brass banjo fitting that still doesn't clear perfectly, but with a slight indentation in my air cleaner, it works and the hood closes with the factory cowl induction system in-tact.

The q-jet is a good street/performance choice. Not the best for a T5, but not terrible, either. Good enough for the factory, at least.
Little things can make a big difference when trying to fit aftermarket parts to factory stuff. You've butted up against one example.

You're right about the Thumpr cam - car sounds great, good off the line but no top end. I'm hoping it will improve with proper tuning and the correct carb.
I was reading elsewhere that the Q Jet is better than the Edelbrock so I'm kinda thinking of going that direction.
