Not thrilled with edelbrock
So yeah I am not entirely happy with my edelbrock carb. A few questions..
Ok lets start with the rest of the motor. Its a 355 with flat top pistons and 64 cc heads. the cam is Duration 278/288, Lift .420/.442. 1.6 ratio rockers. And I have a 600cfm vacuum secondary on there now. Any one have any input? Is 600cfm sufficient for my motor? If not any recommendations?

Re: Not thrilled with edelbrock
What's the compression ratio? What exact heads are you running? What about your exhaust? What do you intend to use it for? Street? Strip?
Guessing you have an auto trans.
The edelbrock 600cfm vac secondary carb is a very mild street carb. it is mainly for something that will be cruising around, not so much for high performance.
the 600 cfm is probably close given the lack of information about your engine you posted, and guessing they are stock heads, and that cam is fairly small.
If you answer a few more questions I might be able to help further. But that carb sounds about right for what you have. That engine isn't going to make a ton of horsepower with any other carb.
Also, what do you have for exhaust? ignition? Stock stall converter in the trans?

exhaust are shorty headers (1 5/8 primarys )into true duals with no cats. Ignition is a MSD street fire HEI with 8.5mm wires and platinum plugs. Stock trans (700r4). Heads are 186's with 2.02 and 1.6 valves and the 1.6 ratio roller rockers. compression is 10.5:1

Re: Not thrilled with edelbrock
I would go with a mechanical secondary 650 with a nice dual plane intake. Depending on what you are using it for. If you are driving on the street that would be a good combination. Don't get an edelbrock if you want performance, Get a demon Jr or a holley. I know there are better choices out there, but you can get on summits website or grab one of there catalogs and just start looking through the carbs and intakes and find something that suits your needs better.
If you are racing it mostly, you could go with a bigger carb, and a more aggressive intake. Single plane high rise.

It is my DD so yeah. And I have a performer intake not the best but I dont have a large cam that needs a RPM manifold.

Re: Not thrilled with edelbrock
well I am sure I can spend more time tuning it to get it to perfection, which is laziness on my part. BUT the first carb I got I bolted on and it my motor ran like ****. I could literally either take the screws out or all the way in and it didnt make a damn bit of difference. Now I took that back and put this one on, and fuel keeps coming from the screws in the top plate. no matter if I make sure they are constantly correctly torqued. Not a lot of fuel but enough to make the endurashine look like absolute ****. So I figured I would ask and see if a bigger carb might fit my motor better, and if so what to go with.
