Electric Choke on Edelbrock 1406 question

Just finished complete rebuild of my 1985 FB 305 with upgrade to Edelbrock 1406, heddman headers, and vacuum/mechanical GM performance HEI dizzy. Have already run the engine on a dynometer and it runs/idles great and sounds MEAN. Getting ready to drop it back into my restored base FB from which the factory ECM and all its harness, sensors etc. have been removed. My question: Can the old 12 volt feed to the original CCC electric choke still be used to wire the electric choke of the edelbrock? Alternatively, would I have to run a feed off of the IGN1 or IGN2 port of the fusebox to the edelbrock choke. My concern in the latter case is that the IGN1 and IGN2 circuits appear to be feed directly from the battery/alternator via fusible links, rather than being protected by typical fuses. In theory, a short circuit through the Edelbrock choke or its feed wire would blow the fusible links and thus shut down the entire ignition system. Any thoughts/suggestions out there?

The Edelbrock choke works exactly like the stock one did, use the same wire.
