help me make my edelbrock 1411 work right
I am rebuilding an edelbrock 1411 right now and have no clue what jets/etc i need to run in order to have a good baseline for performance.
The carb may be less than ideal for my setup, but it was free and i figure ill give it a shot..
My setup:
327ci motor, with L69 heads, hooker comp headers, summit's basic idle-5500rpm cam, edelbrock performer intake, 700r4, 3.23 gears in a 1984 trans am. If there is any other info I am missing let me know. I do not have the 1489 tuning kit for this carb, though i can pick one up if needed. I do have the 1479 tuning kit already.
Thank you greatly for any help. I have never had luck with tuning carbs and would like to get this one set up properly to start things out.

Pretty much everything is covered in the Edelbrock manual.

Re: help me make my edelbrock 1411 work right
It isnt me being lazy, but that is all ridiculously hard for me to follow
.. i just cant grasp what all it is saying.. I was just kind of hoping for a "put this part in and it will run" solution.... then i can go trial and error from there.. is there a baseline part that i can put in and at least have it run?
thanks!
edit.. the current jets and metering rods are corroded and all around funky....otherwise id leave them in.

The parts you already have are the "baseline", it'll run with pretty much whatever's in there.
The manual might seem like a lot, but it doesn't get much simpler than that. You're not going to have much luck tuning it without understanding everything in there.
How are they "corroded"? Do they have a little dull brownish coating? or are they covered in green "fur"? Whenever you get a used carb you generally have to assume it needs to be rebuilt.

a little bit of green on them...
Thanks for the info.. i was thinking
that if i didnt get it within a couple of thousandths that it wouldnt run at all.. if It will run then i will have no problem just swapping parts and seeing which works best. Thanks much! Questions answered!
