Holley 670 avenger problems

I have been running this old street avenger for about 6 months now and it's now starting to give me problems. When the car starts it runs fine. Idles at 650ish 17 on the vacuum reading, flot level is right below the sight plugs, runs perfect at wot and low rpms. Problem is after I turn it off for long periods of time, like say it's off for 2 hours, then it wont start back up. It just cranks and cranks and smells like someone just poured gas out my tail pipes. I'll go out the next morning and go to start it and it will start on the first crank. as long as I start it within an hour it's fine. Usually by 1 hours time it takes it a sec to fire up cranks about 5 times and then starts roughly and smoothest out. Any clue what's causing this. Odds are it's a leak, but I just replaced the power valve and didn't fix it.

It's probably the choke going on too much for a still slightly warm engine.

If it doesn't start right away, floor it (completely) and hold it down while you crank. Don't give it more than one push down! Flooring it opens the choke slightly, and helps clear excess gas. Let up when it starts, of course.

Re: Holley 670 avenger problems

Well, seems it might have just be a air/fuel mixture problem. I readjusted the screws and this has been the third run with no problems. Even tho it was set for the maximum vacumme, I think it was way to rich for that 670 on my little stock 305
