Main Jet removal
Hello everyone, I'm new here but I just pulled the carb off my '85 Olds Cutlass Supreme yesterday so I could rebuild it and ran into a snag on only about the 3rd step. The directions say to remove the main jets with the "appropriate tool" which I have found to be a jet removal tool (oddly enough) but haven't found any auto parts store that carries it. I've looked online and found some made by holley but I'm worried that it would only fit holley jets, since mine is a rochester dualjet. Does anyone have any recommendations on anything else that could be suitable to use or should I just go ahead and order the holley tool?

Rochester dualjet?!? What are you doing posting on here then?
If the dualjet is similar to the quadrajet (and i'm pretty sure it is) the tool you need to remove the main jets is commonly referred to as a "screwdriver". Just use a the widest flat blade one you own, that way you won't burr it. They are usually pretty seized in there, so make sure yours is WIDE, then just reef on it.
If the dualjet happens to use really weird main jets, ie not the q-jet style, then you're on your own.

The DualJet is basically the same as the front half of the E4ME.
That's why I didn't say anything.

Re: Main Jet removal
The reason I posted in here is because this is the only forum I could find for carburetor rebuilds. Anyway I got it all disassembled and didn't need to use that tricky "screwdriver" on the jets. The only thing I used it for was the air bleed valve and the needle seat. I didn't even take the jets out, just the metering rods, since I'm just doing a soft body rebuild with a few other parts as well.
Don't worry, once I have enough money to put into the car I'll be upgrading to a 350 Oldsmobile engine and I'll swap in a four barrel carb. The car was bought new by my grandfather and I inherited it as my first car about 8 years ago.
