Fuel Boiling on Edlebrock 1406?

There's a few questions that i hope can be addressed, but I'm experiencing a symptom similar to Vapor Lock, where its real real hard to start after you've been driving for more than 40 minutes at normal operating temp, shut it off and try to restart it a few seconds later. Also when it does start, it doesn't idle well until you tap the throttle a couple times.

ZZ4 intake, and 170 degree T-stat. Car itself never gets over 200 degrees even in bad traffic.

Someone I know mentioned the Edlebrocks have fuel boiling problems when ran without a spacer? I'd put one in but I'm concerned about hood clearance. I have a 2" tall air element with a drop base. Will this clear the hood?

any insight is appreciated.

Re: Fuel Boiling on Edlebrock 1406?

I got a stock intake, 1" spacer/adaptor, Holley 600 and a 3" drop base air filter and I clear the hood (Just).
Id say with a 2" drop base you are safe to put a spacer in there.

I don't know anything about Edlebrock carbs so i can't help you there but no matter what carb i have found you need to give it atleast 1 pump before it will start/run properly.

Vapor lock is more when you are driving and the engine gets so hot it boils the fuel before it gets to the carb (in the metal hose from pump to carb normaly).
