Changing from E4ME to M4ME
Alright got a M4ME 1705 carb for my car. I got a E4ME 1706 carb in the car right now but would like to take the ecm out of the car. What would I do to do this. Also the water neck is in the way is there another water neck that would give me space to run the line and filter. Any suggestions would be nice. My fuel in line runs 90 deg to pass side, the new one is straight in.

The side of the carb. I could be wrong. Really don't know to much about them. I just want the non-ecm carb in.

If the fuel inlet it straight in, then that carb is originally from a Buick or Pontiac or something. It can still be made to work, but you might have to adapt a few things.
To run in a non-CCC carb, you'll need to replace the distributor, and provide some way of locking up the TCC if you have an automatic.
In the long run, you'd be better off staying with the factory carb.

Re: Changing from E4ME to M4ME
the 1705 and 1706 numbers he is getting is the first part of the full stamping code on the side of the carbs
he doesnt know how the codes work on rochesters he should do a google andleanr how they are coded but either way he will have to modify the fuel line to connect it to the BOP caddy style Q jet
no big deal though
do what you have to to connect it, use hose, clamps , whatever you have to
if oyu need a new section of tubing and tubing nut then go to auto zone and get a shorter length of 3/8" steel tubing they are dirt cheap and the nut that comes on them fits the fuel inlet on the carb
the thermostat housing is really close to the fuel line inlet yes, you cant do anything about that, you are trying ot put a carb on a chevy engine that was designedot go on all others except chevy
so...
it iwll work and i have done it a few times myself, just get a little creative with tubing or 3/8" fuel hose
if the E4ME carb on the car now is fine then i also highly recommend you leave it
you will save yourself gas mileage and headache and $ overall
removing the ecm harness and ecm is real simple and swapping to non CCC carb and non EST HEI is no biggie either if you know how to stab in distributors and set timing but if it all works fine with the CC and EST then there are no real gains to be had by getting rid of it all
good luck
