wet float height specs
What are the floats suppose to be set at when your checking them on the car while the car is idleing with a wet float guage? It's not the same as when your checking it dry while the carb is apart is it? This is a rochester computer controlled quadrajet. I had the floats set at 11/32 when I took it apart but when I put the wet float guage in it says I'm at 6/32. What should I set it at.

It's the same either way +- 1/32". When the float bowl fills up the float rises until it shuts the inlet valve.
You need to make sure you push down on the fulcrum point (the D-shaped metal bar near the inlet valve side of the float that the float rotates around) while checking your float level. If the fulcrum rides up it will also allow the float to rise as well.
I simultaneously push down on the fulcrum bar and the float arm directly over the inlet valve with 2 fingers on my left hand while I use my right hand to measure the float level. Make sure everything's seated down with the fulcrum and the inlet valve before making your measurement. It will be very obvious when you have it right.
