Not exactly sure what you mean by that. But one of the only FREE things I can think of that can be done to the lg4 is to adjust the air-valve tension on the carburetor. That helps eliminate the dreaded quadra-bog.

I suppose there are some, depending upon what you have laying around. Like dual snorkel air cleaner. Removing weight from the car is "free". Advancing the timing to something like 6 degrees BTDC. And adjust the AV as already mentioned.
I suppose if you have access to a die grinder, porting the stock exhaust manifolds is almost "free". Although taking care of the rest of the exhaust certainly isn't going to be.
That's about it. When done, you'll have a way fast 150 horsepower car.

matt there really isnt many free mods, besides weight, u can get rid of the the a/c and smog but i think u did that already, or if u didnt care how long ur tranny last, take the springs outta the accumator(sp?) in the tranny so u get nice firm hard shifts.

depends on the year border, mine was rated 145HP.
"free" can also be defined as no ill effects. The mods cost money, but you don't lose efficiency, driveability etc etc. So not free, but free from side effects. Those are nice, and include dual snorkle, headers/cat back, and tuning up the carb...

1. Bump initial timing up to 6* BTDC (0* is stock). This is the only one that is truly free.
2. Replace stock (CH) secondary rods in the carb with those for an L-69 305 HO carb (DR rods- still available from GM under part number 17053659).
3. Colder stat. 160* works just fine.
4. Cheap open element air cleaner. Typical 14x3 with a drop base.
None of this will create huge gains in peak HP, but the torque curve will improve enough that you can tell just going by the seat of your pants- you don't need a dyno to know it's running quicker.
