Proform mainbody on a daily driver
Well its not driven daily but I want to continue to if I wanted to. I was wonderring if a proform would make the drivability of the car more difficult on the street. I have a holley 800 DP on a 383 stroker in this car probably a 400 to 450hp combo. Holley blue pump 294 Cam 2.05 valve 041 heads....not much more to matter in this question. Super Victor Jr intake MSD timing control, rev limiter, 3" Dual exhaust LT headers....
Its like 180.00 from summit. I have one for a 750 carb with the gaskets never used as I orderred the wrong one its new in the box from summit. I orderred it about 4 months ago and never installed it. When I took it to be installed I found that the 800 that I have needs the more expensive main body. Anyone want it let me know I will post it in the classifieds.
Now my questions are:
1. Is it worth the cost and upgrade.
2. Will it make it hard to drive on the street around town.
Thanks,

It's certainly not a problem driving on the street once it's warmed up. As stated, lack of choke is the only issue, which means you have to baby it for a couple of minutes while it warms up. Once the engine is warm the choke would be full open anyway, so the Proform doesn't make any difference on the street.

The Proform pieces " look" nice....but when you start closely examining them you will find that there casting quality is inaccurate.
You can get nearly the same results far cheaper by just installing a K&N Stub Stack. I'd also get Annular boosters installed for a street carb....far better booster signal than downleg boosters. That equals better mixture quality, which equals better driveabilty and better MPG. With Annular boosters you can run a cruise A\F mixture as low as 16 to 1 with no driveabilty issues, Can't do that with downleg or straight leg ( Yuck!! ) boosters.
On my 780VS, with Annular boosters and Weber Power Plate, I can run 17 to 1 at cruise with no issues.
My new combo will be a 750 DP with Holley HP main body, converted to Annular Boosters with Weber Power Plates on both the Primary and Secondary sides.

Edit: Just ordered my Annular Boosters from AED. No problem at all!! Booster are listed under " Tools":
http://www.aedperformance.com/Tools.htm
AED, The Carb Shop, Braswell Carburation, TPC Racing are just a few of the shops that will remove your old boosters and install new ones. It's not a difficult job, $40 dollars ( good deal ) to $100 ( rip off ) is the price range, it's the problem of getting the boosters in the first place. I've got a certified shop near me that will install the Annular Boosters for $40 cdn.
I juts missed a set of Annular Boosters on E-bay for $19.95...was on holidays and couldn't get Internet access

Proform mainbody vs Holley HP
Check out the issues that I notes, particularily the throttle bore mismatch and the lower positioning of the Secondaru metering block. If your's is the same ( Metering block issue is on EVERY ProForm body from Internet info) then you should have no problem getting a refund from Summit. Lenght of time sitting on your bench ( 4 months ) is not an issue to them. Used parts (IE: gaskets ) is not an issue either. Good Luck.
