Float Vent
Hi all. Ive got a 350 with a quadra jet 4 barrel.
I took my car to a mechanic to get a good tune up and now looking over it, I see they've done a few things to the carb.
My concern is the top most tube at the front. Its kindof a fat little tube that goes downward at a bit of an angle. Anyway, the mechanic blocked it off with a plug, I was told a long time ago that this tube was actually a vent for the float, and that it has to be left open for the carb to maintain the proper float level. My rebuilt carb even has a little wire mesh breather inside this tube.
I wish I had a digital camera so I could show you a pic of what Im talking about. It's kinda hard to explain....
Anyway, should I take this blocker off? And what would the negative effects be If I were to leave this on... Would it make the car hard to start?
