-vacuum leak
-stuck throttle shaft
many other causes
when you start it, is the secondary air valve closed, the choke one closed, but just opening up 1/8" once the car starts up, and the primary throttle shaft resting the tang against the screw tip?
when you start it, push down the fast idle cam, and force it off high idle, if the idle is normal then, then your fast idle is out of whack.

Hi I have a similar problem. my engine revvs high aroung 2500 rpms. I replaced all vacuum lines. I adjusted the idle screw. The choke was sticking so i replaced it. I tested the current( good current) I adjusted fast idle...nothing has helped. when it is firsted started it runs normal( high idle 1500rpm) to warm up. then as soon as i press the gas the rpms shoot up to 2500. when the choke is off the cars runs and idles right 750 rpms in drive. the choke wont cut off it stays open. temp fix i have now is i have wired the choke off. car runs fine but any Ideas or leads to chase would be great. I am kind of stumped.
