hood clearance with single plain

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has been able to fit a single plain intake manifold under a stock iroc hood. I plan on running a torker 2 from edelbrock. Appretiate some suggestions.

Should fit. I was able to run one and the current Vic Jr under a stock hood.

The Torker II is shorter than many dual planes. It also performs worse than many dual planes. You'd be better off with a Performer RPM.

I was thinking the same thing. This motor I bought came with one. So it will clear the sock hood with a holley 650 dp on top. Also how tall an air filter can you run. I have a 4" K&N right now. Could I just buy a drop base to make it fit. I have a Team-G intake on the motor in the car now. Which forced me to buy a 4" cowl. I would like to run the stock hood for that sleeper look.

You don't need a 4" filter element. A 3 inch filter element is all you need for your motor. A $10 paper 14x3" filter is good enough for a 11 second motor. sell the too big K&N filter to some one else to help finance the new intake manifold you're going to buy.

The new Edelbrock "EPS" "mid rise" dual plane manifold is a winner and will fit fine under your stock hood with a 3 inch filter and a drop base filter like the Moroso one.

This manifold is lower than a Performer Rpm but higher then the Performer.

Edelbrock # 2701

If $$$ is an issue a new Professional Products "Cyclone Plus" manifold #52010 is a good copy, for less$$$.

CYCLONE PLUS Even thou these manifolds are made of Chinesium, they work fine.

A Weiand Stealth #8016 is a good one too. Check it out.

All these dual plane manifolds will make you much happier than a Torker II single plane in the long run.
If you want to fit a Performer RPm intake under your IROC heed you'll need an extreme drop base 1960's era GM "L-88" Corvette air filter base with the 3" filter. Search my posts for info. (requires holley choke horn removal.)

3rd.
run a victor jr, if your cam will allow it.
if not the performer RPM or the airgap is the best bang for the buck.
3" is about it on the stock hood. 4" aint gonna do it.
make sure you keep your drop base.

ive have bad luck with the professional products intakes, beware.

I have a Team-G intake should I run this instead of the torker.
As for the filter, Car craft had a shoot out and the bigger 4" filter made more power then the saml ones. Not anything huge. And why would I sell it, maybe get 20 bucks for it. I see where you are coming from but I already am running it so I am going to keep using it.

Thanks for the info though on the intakes.

i think the point is the 4" filter wont clear on a stock hood.
i ran a 4" with my small block, but the LS1 is a touch higher. had to go back to my old 3" setup, even with a cowl.
