single or dual plane intake?

I am changing the cam in my 355 and don't want to deal with tuning of my TBI, I know all of the change over stuff, but was curious would a single or dual plane be better for what I am looking to do. Car is a 355, soon to be a set of iron eagle heads, and teh cam I installing is a 2000-5800 cam. I also don't really want a aftermarket hood if I can help it, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Performer RPM air gap is your best bet. Go with that and a drop base air cleaner and it fits under a Camaro hood (not positive about Firebirds, but pretty sure it'll fit.). So to answer your question, in your case, dual plane.

I also plan on a little plate kit, so I was thinking a good single plain might would be my best bet, is teh victor Jr. able to clear with a edelbrock carb and a plate kit?

The Victor Jr. clears stock Camaro (not sure on FB once again) hoods without a plate kit, but if I recall correctly, Evil Cartman got a plate kit and had to get a new hood.
I have a Victor Jr if you want it.

i'd go with the performer rpm intake.. i really love mine. i dunno if the air gap is any better or just more stylish... .. i doubt it's worse off.... i'd stick with one of them, no spacer, and a drop air cleaner

For your cam...

For your cam that makes its power in the 2000-5800 rpm range, definetly go with a dual plane. There are many good ones to choose from. The dual plane will provide you with fine horsepower numbers, and give you more torque over the single plane. I'd go with a Perfomer RPM or an AirGap, a Weiand Stealth, or the Holley dual plane-PN HLY-300-36 in Summit. All good choices. My .02....
