Most later model ones have the 2 holes drilled/tapped to screw it onto the side of the carb. If they don't then the throttle arm probably doesn't have the little "bubble" on it that the compensator pushes against anyway.
I have a random QJet from a 77 truck in my hand and it's got the holes drilled and tapped along with the correct thing on the throttle arm for the compensator to push against.
