Different types of choke--
I know many people on these forums are in favor of keeping the computer controlled carburetors, but I've decided not to. But I have decided to stay with the quadrajet models so that I can keep the stock air cleaner assembly. After looking at parts, I've found that there are 3 types of chokes on quadrajets:
Divorced Style (1966-1978)
Hot Air Style (1975-1985)
Electric (1980-1989)
I can get any of these without the CC.
Can anybody tell me what the difference is?
I want a choke that turns itself off and on without any external linkage or computer. Thank you!

The choke on your stock carb isn't computer controlled. Get another electric choke carb and you can connect your existing choke wiring to it and it'll work fine.
A divorced choke has the coil mounted separately from the carb in a well inside the manifold where its heated by the exhaust crossover. You don't want one of those. A hot air choke has the coil mounted on the carb but uses a tube to draw exhaust-heated air from the same well to heat the coil.
There were also hot-water chokes that used coolant, and electrically-assisted chokes that used a combination of methods, but none of these were available on Quadrajets.
