jetting an edelbrock 600cfm carb.

jetting an edelbrock 600cfm carb.

i bought the edelbrock 600cfm carb. (part # 1406) and i have know clue how to adjust it, so i just threw it on the car and it runs but really rich. how can i lean it out?

Axle/Gears: 7.5" Auburn 4.10 Posi-Traction
swap the primary jetting and secondary jetting.

this will be a step in the right direction.
By swaping the .098 primary jets for the .095" stock secondary jets you will lean down the low speed and cruise "jetting by 12% and lean down the primary full power jetting by 4%
Secondary jetting will be richened 4%
for more tuning you'll need to buy a tuning kit
consisting of jets, metering rods, power step springs etc.

read it, know it, there will be a test.
edelbrock carb do not like too much fuel pressure.
How much fuel pressure do you have at idle.
Should be 6 psi.
While you have the top off the carb swapping jets you can check the float height setting.

How rich is it? and how do you know it's rich?
what symptoms do you observe?

i can just smell the unburned fuel, i have alot of dirtbikes and i have jetted them i just didn't know really where to start with this. Thanks for the website F-BIRD'88 it helped alot. I haven't checked the fuel pressure yet so thats were i think i will start. Thanks again
