CC= computer-controlled
non-CC = non-computer-controlled
If you have a US-market 3rd gen and it has the stock carb, it's computer-controlled (or at least, it came that way). Look at the front right corner of it; if it has a blue thing sticking out the top with a connector going to it, it's computer-controlled.

QJETcarb
Try this
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...light=qjet+pic
Go down to Sitting bull post with the pic with Red distributor.
I have a Canadian T/A, with the non-cc Qjet. (just like the one on the pic)

Qjet
I have a question:
I was looking at Sitting bull Qjet again...
What is the "selenoid type" thing on the right front(near the throttle cable)
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/att...&postid=636589
--> I dont have this piece on my car!!!!
I do have cruise control, but it's not functional and i have not look why yet.

The easiest way to tell is to look for the M/C solenoid plug. If you have a plug with a couple wires going right into the top surface of the carb itself, it's computer controlled.

LOL, that's in a CAMARO???
That carb is a non-computer truck/van carb with the electrically activated "dual capacity" accelerator pump. Can't remember how it actually works, but I'd bet money hooking the MC solenoid connector up the grey solenoid isn't it.![Big Grin](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
The big give away is NO TPS on the driver's side.
Also, it looks like you're running a non-computer controlled distributor. I can just BARELY see the vacuum can in the pictures, behind the EGR valve.

it's not a third gen CCC carb. at least, not a standard us emmissions one....
i'd be willing to bet the distributor's got vacuum advance.
Looks like something off a truck.
A closer look at the picture, you can see the vacuum advnance distributor, that's not CCC setup. what that plug goes to.. got me by the tail.

Found this on the net:
1985/86 Q-jets in U.S. trucks have dual capacity accelerator pumps. When the engine is cold, more fuel is needed for transition from idle to part-throttle. When the engine is warm, less fuel is required. Dual capacity pump solenoid (plug on top right front of carb) is activated by coolant temperature sensor (sensor in thermostat housing). At 170 degrees pump solenoid energizes, dual capacity pump valve opens and pump capacity reduces by about one-half.

Yeah Sitting Bull's carb had the same thing, took a while to figure out what it was.
I used to think it wasn't the original carb but we never ran the numbers.
Y'all can just forget everything you know about factory thirdgen Qjet setups, this is Canada.

Here is a computer-controlled Q-Jet. Note the throttle position sensor over by the throttle linkage and the mixture control solenoid connection.

Well, it is not computer controlled, no, but it sure is an interesting lil' carb. Do yourself a favor, and trace the wires coming off the grey solenoid at the front of the carb. Unless I'm mistaken, at least one of them should run to a switch in the water jacket--possibly on the thermostat housing.
