ZZ4 + edelbrock heads + air gap intake = 420 hp?

I just got off the phone with a tech guy that works for Edelbrock. He told me they put the "Performer RPM" package on a ZZ4 shortblock (less the cam) and acheived 410 hp. This includes their performer manifold, 1407 750 carb, 7102 camshaft, and 6089 64cc heads. It sounds great, but to make things even more interesting, he suggested I keep the cam I have and also go w/an air gap manifold and it should go in the area of 420 hp. Does anyone thing this is wrong or does this sound right on? I can't wait to get this tpi junk of my ZZ4!

Edelcrock is a bunch of liars. I've seen thier parts not even fit (as is able to physically bolt to) the cars they say they will. Let alone actualy make the power they say it will if it does fit.

Case in point, GM sells the fastburn 385 crate motor. Basically a ZZ4 with fastburn heads (which I would take over edelbrocks anyday) and it makes 385hp.

The air gap manifold sure isn't worth 35hp.

I should say the only thing I do agree with is keeping the ZZ4 cam over the Edelcrap. Thier cams suck...not to mention I think smaller than the ZZ4. I don't remember exactly which cam thier 7102 is tho..I could be wrong about the size.

If it was me, I'd use some other carb and some other cam. You can probably get at least 20 more HP than that with a Comp XE274H (or XR282HR if it's a roller), 1.6 roller rockers, and a Holley carb. The Edelbrock heads and manifold are good, but you do better by going elsewhere on those other 2 items.

Interesting that the Eddie tech told you you'd get more power out of a stock ZZ4 cam than the RPM cam... doesn't really surprise me that you would, only that the tech would tell you that...

You won't believe it's the same motor after you uncork it and let it breathe.

thanks guys for the help. What numbers could I see w/ another cam and carb w/the heads and intake from edelbrock? I think I am just way too gullable, but I kind of believe them if they say they can get 420 hp w/it.
