I was given a Rodchester 4GC last night its off of a 61 olds ?215? all aluminum v8.
From what I've heard these were good performers back in the day.

The carb is horse dung.

Those Olds motors did run strong; they also put out about 15% more horsepower if you stuck a Holley on them, which was a PITA because of the flange the 4G carbs used. Which, incidentally, is equally a PITA about putting one on a car nowadays. I haven't even seen an adapter for that flange for at least 25 years.

If you really want to try it, go find a 283 4-barrel intake from about the same year. You'll have bracket fit problems but no doubt those could be overcome. The Chevy IIRC used a 4GV though, so the choke on the 4GC won't hook up.

Thanks RB83L69, I found a 4bbl manifold for my 56 buick special so i'll try it there and see it likes it. I'll miss that push pedel start though.

I had an old truck, a 57 panel one, with a 235 and the pedal start. That was just too cool! People would see me start it up and couldn't believe it, I guess memory fades fast...

Every 56 Buick I can recall had a WCFB (Weight Controlled Four Barrel) on it. Same flange I think. The 4G would be an upgrade to that thing... talk about Stone Age... the Carter AFB / Edlebrock 1400 series is a direct descendant of that, with an air valve in the secondaries like a Q-Jet except a weight to control it instead of a wind-up spring... how unimaginably crude!
