Carb is Leaking Gas!
When I changed the fuel filter on my cc carb the other day, I cross threaded the fuel line, and now gas leaks out. My cousin, who is a mechanic says that I need a new carb because there is no way to reseal the connection. So my question is whether I really need a new carb, or whether I can fix the one that I have. Thanks a lot for any advice.

I dont know how wise this was of me, but when I did the same thing, I used silver solder to fix it. I just used some sort of plumbers dope my dad told me about to thread the inlet in as good as possible, then I ran a bead of solder around the perimetr. I took the carb off the manifold to do this, I managed not to roast anything and it doesn't leak but i had to cut out several nches of fuel line to make room for an inline filter.

The easiest solution would be to seal the fuel inlet on with some epoxy (leave the filter out cuz you're never getting in there again.) and then put an inline filter on the carb feed line.
IIRC i have heard of new inlet pieces that can make new threads, but i wouldn't take anything IIRC too seriously today, my brain is tired.
Perhaps somebody else can help this slacker moderator out.

I've used those repair fittings in the past, although I haven't seen (or looked for) any recently. My only advice is to take the carb off after you've threaded it in and clean it thoroughly. I didn't, and went through a couple of flooding cycles (using the method I describe here to clear it https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000966.html ) before I finally took it apart and cleaned it out.
Ed's right about the easiest way, though.
