Anyone else COMPLETELY dynamat the inside of thier car ?

Im almost done with mine, i ripped all of the interior out, yes alllll including steering column, pedals and wiring, putting dynamat Xtreme, think im at 13 sheets so far and 5 left, (bought 2 bulk packs), im probably going to need 1 more, that stuff is great, before since my car is a hardtop if i smacked the roof it was like a gong now after two sheets of Xtreme it just goes "thud" , oh heres what i've got planned for the stereo in it: Pioneer7300 HU, Monster Cable wiring, JL Audio 1000/1 and 300/4 amps, 3 JL 10W3's, JL 6.5" VR components in DJSexay kicks, JL VR690 6x9's in rear. :-D

I only dynamatted my doors. How much did it cost you for all the dynamat? I plan on doing the whole car when I put in a new carpet.

New carpet will be going right over it after redoing the wiring and adding alarm, the first bulk pack cost me $180 with tax, then i went back to sound advice which told me $250 each and told em what i could get it for so the guy said 150 each, so i picked up the 2nd, I think im going to need 1 more before im done, so with tax $500 for Xtreme throughout.

Did you double up everywhere or just on the roof? Does it stick well to itself?

I didnt double up anywhere, the roof took 2 sheets, each sheet is about as big as a t top, so the roof took two, i may end up doubling the firewall just for engine noise, but with the Xtreme, it kills the vibrations and noise very well with 1 layer.

Go ahead and duoble it up. As long as you use enough heat it will stick to anything. I used to sell the stuff it works great.

I have my old carpet ripped out right now until the new kit goes in.Are there any less expensive alternatives to Dynamat?Between the ACC carpet kit and leather 4th gen seats I just dropped about $750 bucks and don't have enough left over to afford that much dynamat.

If anyone tries it out I'd like to hear about it, I've heard it works well from car audio boards

Heat ?
Xtreme is super sticky by itself, no heat needed, as far as already having carpet out, I'd say buy one bulk pack, see how cheap you can pull it and stick the firewall and front half, the rest will be easy to do later.

I used the b-quiet stuff, 90 square feet of it in my car when I did the new carpet. One issue I have with it is the nasty tar smell. Took a good month before it went away.
Also be careful around the door handles. You don't want any of that stuff getting onto the lock rod after a hot summer day with the windows up! I learned the hard way and have had to remove my door skin twice!

heard of a couple of alternates. brown bread is one, the mcmaster visco is another, and the last (which half of the guys on sounddomain's boards swear by) is called raamat. i think the last can be found on ebay for dirt cheap compaired to dynamat. the other thing, to be tecnically correct, is that dynamat is not exactly a sound deadener. its is meant to add more weight to panels, causing less vibrations. the mcmaster visco stuff is specifically for deadening. if you have some rattles, use the dynamat to fix that. but there are a few solutions for deadening that are much cheaper than going the dynamat extreme route. and nothing against those of you who've used dynamat; i'm just a broke college kid who can't afford it and want others to know there are other options out there.

I'd say it does a pretty good job so far, nothing against the other products out there, havent tried any of them, but i wanted to get it locally and since im getting it for $150 per bulk pack i cant really complain about the price, oh well im about to get back to it, maybe i'll post pics after im done.
