which sub to buy
first off i wuold like to ask if anybody has or knows anybody who has eclipse subs and how they sound and how much they cost, cause the website doesn't say and it will be weeks b4 i get the catalog. i have narrowed my choices to either those the eclipse 8000(i think, which ever is the highest), the RF punch power, the kenwood tornado's. if anybody has an opinion on which ones i should get and a legit. answer please reply, i would really like to know how much those eclipse's are cause they look real good. i am planning on getting 2 10's, i am tryin to find a good amp to power these 2 subs, pref. only one so i dont have to do a bunch of extra wiring, lazy me. thanks to anybody who replys.

I don't know much about Eclipse, but from what I've heard and the few I've listened to in a showroom (Aluminum cones I think) they would kick Rockfords @ss and definatly blow away Kenwood.
Someone follow this up with more info,

yea dude, eclipses all the way over RF and KW. I see more upscale systems at shows including Eclipse over the other 2.

I had a single eclipse 88100 hooked to my 500a2 fosgate amp, slammed hard as sin and SQ to no end, then my box started venting plus the 2 ohm load on my fosgate prob was throwing a clipped signal at it so it ripped the coil away from the cone, sweet sub, probably buy a match for it and put in my 79 after it comes back from warranty, definetly worth the money, they are like $250 from www.buyloud.com i think, oh i've also had: Fosgate HX2, Diamond Audio M5, Cerwin Vega, Fosgate HE, MTX6000, and i'd take the eclipse over EVERY one of them.

after being in the sound scene for a while now and hearing many systems and all kinds of setups.... eclipse aren't bad but with the same amp, i heard a kicker l7 whoop the eclipse 15" *** .... personally i would always recommend audiobahns...alpines...boston(www.bostonacoustics.com) they are a sub company of BOSE....and cadence and fusion....these r my favs by far....u want thump....those r the bad boys

Sorry but i highly doubt that L7 would beat an Eclipse 88100 in a SQ comp, and after looking at audiobahn and working with them some im not buying another product from them, no way in He!! the audiobahns come close to the quality of Eclipse, and that single 10" I had in the back of my Z was enough to make your head hurt, not to mention some guy in a drive thru get out of his civic and beg me to install his system, he stood there for several minutes arguing with me that i had 2 12's, but wouldnt bet me any money oh well its your money, waste if you want, i say go with JL or Eclipse, i've played with a lot of products and they actually impress me.

I'm with Z28racer again, No way an L7 would top an Eclipse 88100 in SQ comp., not sure who would win SPL wise. High end Audiobahns are good for SPL, not SQ (Exception the aluminum cone which is clear with good SPL). I've heard Kicker and Eclipse few times, but enough to know who would win in comp. By the way some SQ guys (like myself) don't like big 15" subs becouse they tend to not be as responsive as a 10" of the same model. This varies, but is usually the case.

the audiobahn's that i am looking at are the 10" compression piston subs, they only handle 350 but i am gettin 2 so it will sound better, i am planin on gettin an amp that puts out about 300 x 2, not sure what brand but somethin that puts out that much. i am gettin a really good deal on these and that is one of the main reasons i am buyin them. i have heard 1 12 and it sounded pretty good for the amp the guy had, it only put out 300 x 1 but for the boom it put out good.

sorry to reply to this topic again but at the sound levels we were hearing the l7 vs. eclipse subs at weren't that high.... they were bout midway that the amp could do...but YES the L7 outdid the eclipse....
(no it was not setup wrong...this was at Ovation) also..i second the whole ALPINE ALL THE WAY thing....
Q: ever heard four audiobahn 12" with 1000max hooked up to 3 1,000 watt plus one 900 watt amps? ummm didn't think so

Again as I've said before in this post of course the Kickers are louder, they have like 23% more cone area. However, if you are in SQ competition the Eclipses will "outdo" Kickers. Not SPL.
Alpines are pretty good, they woulden't keep up with Kickers or Eclipse, but all around Alpine is a good company if wanted to get the whole system. I'm not sure if Eclipse amps are as good as Alpines, but IMO Eclipse has Alpine beat in every product (HU to subs). They do cost significantly more though. It depends on what you plan on spending.
