Making a Convertible sound good!

I just got an 89 GTA Convertible, and I want to make it sound good. With the head unit, I get absolutley no bass whatsoever. Im thinking of building a small speaker box to put in the trunk on the driver side all the way in the corner where the little storage compartment is. Has anyone done this and can reccomend a good way to go about it?
Im not looking to make it sound nuts (that's what the '80 is for) but I do want to make it sound better, and I think one 10" will do it. Also its a convertible so i need to save as much trunk space as possible since there's none to begin with!

well bud, in 3rd gen camaros and birds on twelve would be perfect, in my car, its extreme, but its not good enuff anymore, so im goin with 2 12s heh, you would prolly be happy with one ten, but with the 12, you could prolly set off alarms if u opened your doors, i can and i have a JL 12W0, but im gettin 2 Nakamichi SPW120's, u can buy a truck box that will fit perfect in the well, i dont know if convertables have the well or not, im guessing they do, but JL Audio makes them loaded with a 10w0 and that would sound really good, just make sure u point the sub at the back of the car

I'm bridging a Qupix 330 watt amp into a Sony Xplode 10" sub in a small box i plan to conceal That should hit nicely.

For the 1980, i'm using a Precision Power 600 watt amp to power 2 12's, and a Pyramid 300 watt amp to power the inside speakers that the head unit wont power. Head unit will power tweeters and kickpanel speakers, and the amp will do the 6x9's and whatever else i can stuff in there.. hello noise pollution
