4x10's that thump

as i was surfin the net i noticed that there were some cool 4x10's on ebay that put out about 400 watts a pair. i want a pair of speakers that will rattle the windows of my duplex as i smash off. my nostalgiac pony needs a bit of work on the stereo, so do you think 4x10's will be what i want? i read that crunch and kenford makes good stuff and they are almost about my budget. will i need an amp? what do you suggest, my buddy has a 3000 watt boss amp that he'll trade me for the old muffler from my pony

i was about to say no because 4x10's wont fit in your camaro/firebird, then i noticed you have a mustang and now im not sure what you have in it. 4x10's are those long skinny speakers, usually in gm cars. EX. 88 monte carlo, and extended cab s10. IF you were gonna custom fit speakers, nothing tops a good pair of 6x9's and/or 6 1/2's

boss amps are bad. 3000 watts!?! kinda doubtful.

There are very few 4x10s to choose from, and anything that advertises 400 watts is bound to be crap. Because of the stupid shape, there are some difficult challenges for the speaker designers to overcome. To make the cone rigid enough to not bend all over the place, it's usually got to be very heavy which would restrict bandwidth. Because of it's limited applications, very few companies even bother to make them, and the few that do aren't generally a company sononomous with high quality.

I'd strongly reccomend that you install a pair of component speakers if you want good sound.

If you want a ton of bass, buy subs. No coax or components will ever produce big bass.

My friend had some Pioneer 4x8's or 4x10's that sounded great in his Fierro, but for a pinto mustang I would suggest you get the run of the mill system including hatch box.

BTW Im impressed that sucker can spin soo well. I had a 79 Pinto with the same setup it would burn the tires but not like that
