Power wire size for amp
Ok i got a rockford fosgate 800.2 punch amp and i got a wiring kit that has 4 awg power and ground wire. now the terminals for power amd ground on the amp are for 8-18 awg. does this mean im screwed or can i some how still use the wire i got.also i have noticed that everytime i look for wiring kits for my amp there are ones for up to 500 watts and ones for up to 1000 watts mine is 800 and this makes no sense because the one for up to a 1000 comes with the 4 awg wire and the one for up to 500 comes with 8 awg wire. Anyone please help me im begining to go nuts here. thanx

I had the same problem, my terminals are only for 8 awg. What I did was i got some some 4 awg spade connectors (looks like a y, made by Monster Cable), and clipped the tips to make it shorter, and filed the sides a bit so they fit perfectly. It depends on what kind of terminals are on your amp though. Mine have a little plate like thing with a screw to sandwich it all together. Your other option would be to get a distribution block and run your 4 awg to that, then run 1 or 2 (stacked) 8 awg wires from your block to your amp.

the more wattage your amp, the more
current draw to the system.. the lower
the number gauge.. the bigger the wire..
4 gauge is bigger than 8 gauge/.
