cap question

Ok guys..
I have a cap question for ya.,
I don't drive my car "real" often.. and
I have a fairly insane system in the
car.
I have a 1 farad capacitor.
now 2 car shops told me my cap is not
whats draining my battery.
I put a brand new batter in my car, and
the car sat for the summer, driven
twice.. I started it and ran the car
some. I only turnedd on the radio a couple
of times, and I watched the alt gauge
for drops so I never turnedd up the volume
to the levels where my alt gauge drops below
12 volts.
I have a viper 550 alarm system in also.
the battery kept going dead, finally the
battery was destroyed,. Had to get another
new one./. put in new one, 1 month later
decide to drive the car, had to charge
it to get it starteed.. is this normal? could the small drain of my alarm system over a lengthy time add up to the drain of my battery, or is the car shop wrong and the cap could be causing this.. they suggested that my alternator could have a bad diode and that the alternator is sucking back when the car is not running.. however, the alternator charges right around 13.6 volts when running idle.

any comments?

it is possible for the alarm to to be drawing the power, but only is it sits for really long periods of time.

It is definately not the cap. Once a cap is charged, it does not draw any current.

Id say try shootin for a 400 watt pheonix gold alternator. My truck had the problem of when running fog lights and my system up then my power would drain and my lights would dim and my sub amp would kick off. My battery never died because everything turned off, but thats the problem i had.

if battery is dying with everything off, I don't think it's the alternator. something is drawing current. My guess is the alarm. Are there extra relays used that are energized when armed or something ?

Ok.. I believe you guyys, thats pretty
fair ammount of opinions telling me that
it can't be the capacitor then.

I think it is the Alarm system.. I guess
it is just because of the length of time
that it sat.. The first battery that got
destroyed was a different case, I had the
gain up a bit too much on the sub amp, and I turned it up to where I was hitting bass
hits that were bringing my voltage down to
like 7-8 volts.. it not only fried the
battery but it fried my amplifier too.. I
am in the process of adding a stinger battery to the system and a higher amperage alternator.
