i liked my Sony Xplod 6x9's... i also liked my Pioneer 3-Ways... but i'd hook up an amp to 'em to make 'em sound better... i busted both pair... just go to best buy... or circuit city or any car audio place and listen for yourself... bring a burnt cd with songs u like on it and go listen 4 urself... or just get a 5¼" or 6½" component set that sounds good... get DJSexay's kick panels... and hook an amp up to them... my kicks will be in wednesday and i can't wait!

hell, why not component sets all around....

sony, ick...

i made some MDF conversion plats to replace the 6x9s'

the thing why some people think 6x9s sound better is because its a larger cone, giving more Bass they think, the same can be acheieved with comp set, except better sounding,...

keep in mind you get what you pay for...
here's the first set i had,

here's when i put in my new speakers.

I think you would get much better results with kicks and components. IMO, round components will give you much better sound than any oval speaker. If cost is a concern don't even get rear speakers. If you get some Boston Acoustics, Memphis, or other quality components up front you wont need rear for anything but fill.

And Sony Xplodes? Not in my car!

Components in the kicks sound great. I really like the speakers from CDT. Used to be Cliff Designs. I don't hear much about them probably because they are so expensive but that is all I had in my Nissan and it was unbelievable. I have some rockford fanatic x's in my kicks right now that don't sound to bad. Not even close to the CDT's in my opinion but a lot cheaper. Just put a solid compnent set in the kicks and you won't be disapointed.

I second the CDT's. That's what I have all around, and they sound incredible. What are you looking to spend? Are you/will you be running an amp?

wow I totally spaced this post lol, I want to run an amp I will be running an amp if I put a sub in anyhow, I was thinking maybe have some good 4x6's up front get DJsexays kicks panels with some decent components in em, and either just put two component sets in two custom coxes to sit just behind the rear or or maybe 6x9's in the same place OR make the component plates like above, then have either 1 ten or 2 8" subs in a custom box. it would take me a while to put it together so this is jsut an end product.

do the kicks with components, ditch the 4x6's altogether, they'll just ruin the better imaging my kicks give ya!, plus the sound quality of a 4x6 will not be anywhere near a component set, and your ears will be able to tell you have good speakers below, and crappy ones up top.

ssounds good I dont feel liek removing the dash pad anyhow lol Ill just put the wires that should be the 4x6's to the kicks, then run another set of components in the sail panel, then maybe a tube sub or if I can find an enclosure that will fit in the well for 1 ten or a couple 8's. My freind has 2 8's in his car they are liek 300 watts each and they kick @$$ they sound great for what I want.
