clairion 4 channels? opinions please!! Oh and my current system

just bought a clarion 440 watt 4 channel amp. Amp has 40 watts rms per channel. opinions would be appreciated on thier amps.
here is the new setup i should have soon

Either Kenwood or Alpine HU (Cd/ maybe Mp3) (still deciding)
Clarion 4 channel (have now) (interior)
JBL bp600.1 (2 weeks) (sub/s amp)
Infinity 6.5in components (front) (w/ dj's kicks when ever he starts back making) (3 1/2 weeks)
6.5's components or some type of 6-8in midbass speaker (rear)(Brand undecided)
Single 12" enclosure (w/ either infinity sub or JL) (have enclosure now, thinking about duals though)

Current setup:
Kenwood tape krc-508s
Audio bahn 4x6 separates
Pioneer 6x9's 2 way
unic x over
very old pyramid 200 watt amp
Aura 12" 250 watt Sub

Solid sounding system-
clear high's
good midrange
solid low end (enough to feel in the chest)
(no bass boost used)
(very little treble)

i believe their amps are pretty decent, i was looking at them myself for a while. good choice on the jbl amp. what infinity sub? you can pick up an Alpine Type-R for less than the cost of an Infinity Perfect and get the same sound quality along with some extra boom when ya want.

First amp I ever bought was a used Clarion Pro Audio APA5241. It was a bridgable 5-channel amp with built in hi/lo crossover, independent gain controls, and gold plated speaker level inputs. Ran my whole system: 4x6's, 6x9's, and a sub.

Not a killer amount of power (4x35W + 1x75W @4ohms, and the power doubles at 2ohms), but it was enough to keep me satisfied at the time. I don't believe the power ratings are incredibly underrated, but I'm sure that you're getting at least what they're telling you compared to bargain brand overrating.

The features made it really easy to use and tune, it never broke, and I never had any complaints about it. Just out grew the power/use limitations and generally wanted to create a higher quality system.

All in all, it was a decent, simple, and reliable. I was kinda surprised because I wasn't expecting very much out it (not exactly known for their amps over at Clarion...).

Hope you enjoy it!
