cheap amp?

has anyone heard of the amp profile 800sx or Visonik V900XD, crap amp or decent? I saw them on the the site half.com I'm trying to save myself some money but i don't want to buy something that no one has heard of, thanks. BTW i'm gonna be using the amp to power my two 10' subs, 400 watts per coil, right now i believe i have a 2 channel 400watt amp, or at least that's what my friend told me when he sold it to me. Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend wasting your hard earned money on a cheap amp when you can waste it on your engine!!!! If you're hard on $$$ find someone who has a used name brand amp.
no-name amps sound bad and break easily

Check e-bay, you can probably find a decent Rockford Fosgate amp for about the same price as you would that Profile stuff. The cheap stuff is way overrated when it comes to power. A "real" 50x2 RMS @ 4ohm will blow away an overrated 200x2 RMS @ 4 ohm any day. (Just make sure to cross-reference the eBay specifications with Rockford's website)

And never, EVER, look at the peak watts. I could say I have a 2,000 watt peak amp, and be telling the truth. What I don't say is that the amp does 2,000 watts for 0.000001 second, before distortion sets in, and before the amplifier sucks the life out of it's cheap power supply- then you get 100 watts of distorted garbage afterwards. Peak is cool sounding, but if your RMS numbers are high, that means your peak is even higher!!

In fact, I just found you an amp. It's a Rockford Fosgate Punch 160.2, and it's here: http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/ROCG11602 for $180. Bridge it, and run it into one of your subs. You'll get 160 watts going to that sub, and it'll be clean as hell. Yeah, you do lose the "dual sub" look, but when you beat your friends out, it'll be worth the new look. I have a friend who installs car audio for a living, and what he's done with one 10" sub in a sealed box (or custom fiberglass) is amazing! http://www.crutchfield.com also sells it for $200, and you could do 4 monthly payments of $50 with a credit card.

That's not saying the Profile 800sx is total garbage. It's probably great for the average person that doesn't want thumping bass, and doesn't turn up the volume so the neighbors hear.

And who knows, if you ran the Rockford Fosgate amp without bridging it, and ran both your subs, it might sound even better than what you started with! The amp is NOT one ohm stable, so you couldn't bridge the amp, and run both subs off it.

What brand is your current amp and subs?

[edit] Hey, anyone know anything about Zapco? That SoundDomain is advertising a "closeout" on a 100X amp; if Zapco's not another "Pyramid" amp, that might be your best deal. It's a mono amp that can do two subs in parallel. http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/ZAPS100X

How do you like the MTX road thunders? I was thinking of getting one to power my inside speakers for my "next" system.
