is this possible?????

i have a so called 45x4 watt head unit in my firebird this is my question??

is it possible to wire 2 channels up to 1 speaker ?

example use the right front and rear channels on right speaker and the left front and rear channels on the left speaker.

would this increase the power to these speakers x 2 or is this not possible??

any help please!!
thanks

Short and sweet answer:

No! Headunits are not designed to be bridged...you may end up damaging the output stages if you do this.

Get an amp or live with the output from the deck the way it was meant.

the head unit has no idea that you are putting twice the signal to one speaker. i dont see why you want to do this but yes it can be done and you wont have a problem

ok thanks guys!

the reason im asking this is because i have 2 good amps one on my subs and one on my 6x9's .

subs kicker 10"s with 1ch mono amp(hits hard)
6x9"s polk db series 3way with an old aututek 44 (sounds great)

will install boston acoustics 4x6 cx7 2way 's this weekend(i like em)

awia cdplayer came with the car piece of ****
will get better one when $ is a little better.

the way it is now im not getting any front staging cause all my sound is comming from the rear.i will try the bostons just on the head unit 's front channels but if that doesnt work out better.and i hope it does,i was just looking ahead about my origanal question . and the way im setup in the hatch another amp would
take away the room that i do have .

first on my list is a new cd player prob. alpine i like the CDA-7863 60x4 very nice but like i said on a budget .

thanks for the help guys

anyone else have an idea???

What is the RMS and Peak power ratings on the Autotech 44? I know the BA CX7's handle 80watts peak but I'm not sure about their RMS rating couldn't find that info either. Is it a 2-channel or 4-channel amp?

OK JO

the bostons are rated at 40 watts rms 80 peak

the autotek amp i'v been having for about 8 years and i got it from a friend but this is the best amp i've ever had!!!!!

model#7050 BTS (BASS THRUST SERIES)
44watts into 4 ohms 2 channel, but has to be seriously underrated.

had it bridged on 2 other kicker 10's for a few years and it would
pound!!! hard!!

the reason i put it on my 6x9's is that it has a nice xover
0 to +12 treble
0 to +18 bass
and gain
im realy just trying to get more volume out of the 4x6's
the amp on the new 10's is mobile authority A1101 mono i got of of ebay for $89 new and to tell you the truth im really happy with it except for the size (about 12X13X2.5) they say its 1000w peak and 500 rms at 2 ohms not sure about that, but its doing its job nicely.
im very suprised with it .
I'm just trying to see if i can get the 4x6's up to vol with the rest.
thats all

Car: yy wife, crazy.
Engine: 350, Vortecs, 650DP
Transmission: TH-350
Axle/Gears: 8.5", 3.42
The easiest solution to your problem is to take the amp off the 6x9s and run them to your 4x6s. Then run the 6x9s off of your HU.

If the crossover in the amp is as good as you say, then set it according to the realistic frequency that your 4x6s can handle. More than not, it's probably around 80-100Hz.

The main purpose of any rear speakers is to fill the rear with some sound to give the sound more ambiance. Not to drown out the front imaging.

A lot of great systems do not even have rear speakers. They imaging is so great that they aren't needed. This is primarily due from the wonders of kickpanels.

Just try it and you may be happy. If not you can always switch it back the way you had it.
